Ensure the growth of Judo in the district of Anantapur by introducing it to youth via rural schools, and provide talented and motivated youth the opportunities to succeed at national and international levels.

The ASA runs the Judo program across the district of Anantapur through 38 centres. The programs were initiated in 2005, for both boys and girls.


The total number of regular, weekly participants in Judo is 3,976, (2,118 Girls and 1,858 Boys). The programs are implemented through two types of centres: Grassroot Programs and the Anantapur Sports Village.

Grassroot Programs

The ASA currently operates its grassroot Judo programs through 37 government schools across the district of Anantapur, where 31 schools run programs for both girls and boys. A total of 3,951 youth (2,105 girls and 1,846 boys) participate in regular, weekly Judo programs in these schools. Under the technical support and guidance of RDT, the physical education teachers of those schools implement the grassroot programs. These schools are provided with training gear and equipment by RDT.


Children from these schools participate annually in the RGKA (Rural Competitions), SGFI (School Competitions), University and Open (Federation) Competitions at District, State and National levels. As many as 126 athletes have participated at the State Level. Moreover, 64% of these have gone ahead to the National Level.

Judo Academy at Anantapur Sports Village

The Judo academy at Anantapur Sports Village (ASV) was established on 30th May, 2015 as a Judo Federation of India (JFI) Training Centre, for both boys and girls. The Academy supports a total of 12 boys and 13 girls playing at Sub-Junior, Junior, Senior and Open age groups. The athletes are selected from the grassroot school programs, through a structured Talent ID program developed by RDT. All Judo academy players participate in State and National Level competitions.


The entire Academy program is supported by RDT, where all athletes are provided with the necessary support to aid in their development. The ASV comprises of international standard infrastructure including a Judo hall, with competition standard training mats, two separate changing rooms, an office space and storage facility. The athletes are provided with a full nutrition program, incorporating all three daily meals as well as additional diet aligned to their training needs. Moreover, educational support with free of cost access to RDT’s partner schools and colleges is also provided.
