Judo

 

 

The ASA runs the Judo program across the district of Anantapur through 73 centres. The programs were initiated in 2005, for both boys and girls.

 

The total number of regular, weekly participants in Judo is 5,373 (2,903 Girls and 2,470 Boys). The programs are implemented through two types of centres: Grassroot Programs and the Anantapur Sports Village.

Grassroot Programs

The ASA currently operates its grassroots Judo programs through 72 schools across the district of Anantapur. A total of 6,125 youth (3,525 girls and 2,600 boys) participate in regular, weekly Judo programs in these schools. Under the technical support and guidance of RDT, the physical education teachers of these schools implement the grassroots programs. These schools are provided with training gear and equipment by RDT

Judo Academy at Anantapur Sports Village

The Judo academy at Anantapur Sports Village (ASV) was established on 30th May, 2015 as a Judo Federation of India (JFI) Training Centre, for both boys and girls. The Academy supports a total of 12 boys and 13 girls playing at Sub-Junior, Junior, Senior and Open age groups. The athletes are selected from the grassroots school programs, through a structured Talent ID program developed by RDT. All Judo academy players participate in State and National Level competitions.

 

The entire Academy program is supported by RDT, where all athletes are provided with the necessary support to aid in their development. The ASV comprises of international standard infrastructure including a Judo hall, with competition standard training mats, two separate changing rooms, an office space and storage facility. The athletes are provided with a full nutrition program, incorporating all three daily meals as well as additional diet aligned with their training needs. Moreover, educational support with free of cost access to RDT’s partner schools and colleges are also provided.
